Breathing

One of the keys to decreasing injury and living in optimal health is proper breathing techniques

Breathing diaphragmatically is foundational to improving balance and performing any other movement pattern. The likelihood of injury will increase dramatically if a desirable breathing pattern is not established.

I help you learn to breathe diaphragmatically and teach you how posture affects breathing patterns and how to recognize if you are breathing correctly while performing a simple exercise.

With each breath the movement of the diaphragm creates a "massage" for the abdominal organs. This "massaging action" helps in digestion and elimination. The heart sits above the diaphragm and is attached by fascia, it will move along with the diaphragm as we breathe. This is incredibly beneficial for the function of the heart.  If a person breathes predominately high in the chest and the movement of the diaphragm is restricted they will miss out on many wonderful benefits. A number of studies have shown a correlation between upper chest breathing and heart disease.

Below are a list of symptoms that may be due to improper breathing patterns.

•       Inability to breath efficiently through the nose

•       Slobber on the pillow when you wake in the morning

•        Neck and shoulder tension

•        Headaches

•        Bloating and constipation
